Transportation in Grand County


Travelling within Grand County and beyond is a breeze thanks to the area’s excellent transportation network. There are several major highways that cross the county and connect the communities to each other and the rest of Colorado. These thoroughfares include US Routes 34 and 40 and Colorado State Highway 9. When residents and visitors do not want to drive, there are rail transportation services in the county. Amtrak’s California Zephyr line, which runs daily between the San Francisco Bay area and Chicago, stops within Grand County at  Granby Station (438 Railroad Avenue, Granby) and Fraser-Winter Park Station (205 Fraser Avenue, Fraser). During ski season, Amtrak offers the Winter Park Express, which provides direct rail service from Denver to Winter Park. When needing to travel farther distances domestically or internationally, Denver International Airport (8500 Peña Boulevard, Denver) is located 120 miles from the central point of Grand County.
